2020 Match stats
Here you will find details on every match I have fished throughout 2020 good or bad!!

2020 - 18 matches, total aggregate weight 560lb

1 win, 3 framing place / 23% framing ratio

22nd March, Nomad match, Old pool peg 10 The Jam Factory

Due to the Coronavirus social distancing recommended by the government rather than fishing a large open match we dicied to fish our own small match at the Jam Facotry. The fishing was tough and only those that had maggot caught. The match was won with only 21lb and a managed one carp for 3lb 3oz. At least I caught because some didn't. I really tough match this one but we were all safe! No more fishing now for a while!!

14th March, Woodland View Saturday Open, High 13, DNW throw back 15lb

I drew a great peg High 13 behide the Preston broads and ran to the peg. But it wasn't to be. It was a real struggle with corn, pellets or maggots. I caught about 5lb and then another 10lb in the last 10 minutes and threw back. The bloke on the next peg also need the same, so maybe it wasn't me!!

Hillveiw Heron 23 - 42lb 2oz
Hillveiw Heron 23 - 42lb 2oz

8th March, Hillview Sunday Open, Heron pool 23, 42lb 0oz

This was an enjoyable match, the first one for week without wind. Just a few gusts during the day forecast. So it was nice to use the pole. I caught a odd carp and F1 rotating between 4 pole lines with corn, soft pellet and maggots. I just couldn't put a decent run of fish together and weighed in 42lb which was 3rd in section.

Manor Farm Leisure Saturday Open, Windmill 16- 23lb 0oz
Manor Farm Leisure Saturday Open, Windmill 16- 23lb 0oz

7th March, Manor Farm Leisure, Saturday Open, Windlmill pool 16, 23lb 0oz

This match was spread over Ash and Windmill. I drew Windmill 16 on a day with yet more strong blustery winds, ruling out of the pole again. At least a had an island to throw to and I set up a bomb rod and a small method. I caught small stockie F1's on the bomb but all the best weighs on the day came from the Ash pool. Another bad draw!!

Moorlands Farm, Meadow 45 - 8lb
Moorlands Farm, Meadow 45 - 8lb

1st March, Moorlands Farm, Sunday Open, Meadow 45 - 8lb

My draw arm really let me down this week. I drew in the shallows on the Meadow pool. All the fish were in the bowl in the deeper water at the other end of the pool. I really struggled and could only catch small Roach and Skimmers on the waggler and pole resulting me packing away my pole and throwing out the lead for the last hour, hoping for at least one pull round, Which it did just the once. All the weights came from the bowl in the deeper water at the other end of the pool

Section win, Woodland View, Back Deans 56 - 44lb 12oz
Section win, Woodland View, Back Deans 56 - 44lb 12oz

23rd February, Section win, final round Woodland View ICS Winter Pairs League, Back Deans 56 - 44lb 12oz

This was the last round of the Pairs Winter league. I finally drew on a few fish despite the wind making fishing the pole difficult. So I fished the pole short with soft pellets to finally pick up a section win in the league, catching a few Carp, F1's and Skimmers to win the section.

Manor Farm Leisure, island 25 DNW
Manor Farm Leisure, island 25 DNW

22nd February, Manor Farm Leisure Saturday Open, island 25 DNW throw back 12lb

I made a bad error of judgement. Gales forecast for the day and I went to Manor Farm. The wind ruled out the pole and it was a rod job today off a peg with no recent form. I managed 1 carp, 1 F1 and 2 Skimmers (which was better than the 2 peg next to me!)

4th place on Willow pool, the Jam factory
4th place on Willow pool, the Jam factory

16th February, Nomad match at the Jam Facotry on Willow, 4th place with 33lb

This was a small knock up match on The Willow pool at the Jammer. Storm Ciara and Dennis had put another 2 foot on the pool and it was heavily colour due to the rain run off. All this cold rain made the fishing tough but I found a few during the last hour to catch 33lb and 4th place. Only problem was it was a small knock up and only the top 3 were paid out!!

8th February, Hillview Saturday Open, Heron 32 - 34lb 0oz

Hillview Saturday Open, Heron 32 - 34lb 0oz
Hillview Saturday Open, Heron 32 - 34lb 0oz

I drew peg 32 right on the end of the pool. A bit of the famine or feast peg and you always feel a little boxed in on this peg. I started long on a 4mm expander pellet and caught 3 F1's before it died on me. I spent the next 3 hours on maggots long and short for plenty of silvers but only one F1'. No carp were in the margins. I went back on the 4mm expander, short for the last hour and began to catch some more F1's weighing in 34lb. Got it wrong today. maggots weren't working and I should of fished the pellet.

Moorlands Farm Sunday Open, Bank 5, 16lb 0oz
Moorlands Farm Sunday Open, Bank 5, 16lb 0oz

2nd February, Moorlands Farm, Sunday Open, Bank 5, 16lb 0oz

I'm not that familiar with Moorlands having only been twice before and this was my first time on the Bank pool. I really struggled to be honest. All I could catch was small silvers. I did manage one carp and an F1 but really need to visit the venue more.

3rd Overall, Manor Farm Leisure Saturday Open, island 6, 65lb 4oz
3rd Overall, Manor Farm Leisure Saturday Open, island 6, 65lb 4oz

1st February, 3rd Overall, Manor Farm Leisure, Saturday Open, island 6, 65lb 4oz

For this match due to blustery weather conditions I left the pole in the bag and just set up Bomb and Method rods. Manor is a good rod venue and I drew peg 6 which is a noted peg. I had a nice days fishing catching a few carp and F1's on the Bomb first before catching on pellets throwing to the aerator. Giving me 3rd in the match.

26th January, Wooland View ICS Winter Pairs League - High 27, 21lb 2oz

I will be glad when this league is over. Its not been our year. I think me and partner are rock bottom of the league. This week I drew on the High pool. I couldn't get a bite on pellets or corn. just maggots. I caught only 3 carp 3 F1's and a few Roach.

Hillview Moorhen 2 - 18lb 8oz
Hillview Moorhen 2 - 18lb 8oz

25th January, Hillview Saturday Open, Moorhen peg 2 - 18lb 8oz

I drew peg 2 which is a good summer peg but not the best in the winter. Although it has been doing well recently. It was a tough einter winter with not many fish being caught. My section was very close with 21lb 8 winning. One more fish and I would of won the section.

Hillview Canal 4 peg 93 - 40lb 0oz
Hillview Canal 4 peg 93 - 40lb 0oz

19th January, Hillview Sunday Open, Canal 4 peg 93 - 40lb 3rd in section

After a poor match the previous day I went back to Hillview. This time the match was on all four of the canals. I drew peg 93 on the 4th canal which generally is the best canal. It was the first time in 2 years since I started going to Hillview that I've drew the 4th canal. However a heavy over night frost and record High Pressure slowed down the sport. I weighed in 40lb with 60lb winning the match.

Hillview Heron 34 - DNW threw back 5lb
Hillview Heron 34 - DNW threw back 5lb

18th January, Hillview Saturday Open - DNW threw back 5lb !!

One to forget this one. I draw Heron 34 a peg where I had doneOK on before but not today. I caught one F1 on the Bomb & Bread, Another Stockie F1, a Chub and nine roach on the pole. As I was last to weigh in I threw back!!

Woodland View, Front Deans 12 - 17lb 8oz
Woodland View, Front Deans 12 - 17lb 8oz

12th January, Woodland View ICS WInter Pairs League. Front Dean 12 - 17lb 12oz

My turn in Deans this week. I drew Front Dean 12, a reasonable peg. I decided to fish maggots long at 14.5 metres and a short maggot line. It was a struggle and changing to corn and pellet made no difference.  I caught one carp, several F1's and a few Skimmers for 17lb 12oz for well down the section.

Section WIN, Hillview Saturday Open, 48lb 8oz
Section WIN, Hillview Saturday Open, 48lb 8oz

11th January, Section WIN, Hillview Saturday Open 48lb 8oz

I drew canal 1 this time. A strong gusty wind ruled out fishing long to the far bank and I settled to fish 3 lines. One to the aerator, one on 2+2 and the right hand margin. It was very slow, I could only catch small Silvers and my first carp came at 12 noon. In the end the 2+2 maggot line came good and I caught a few in the last hour to win the section. Match WIN, Hawford Bridge, Bridge pool, 114lb 8oz
Match WIN, Hawford Bridge, Bridge pool, 114lb 8oz

5th January, Match WIN, Hawford Bridge, Bridge pool, 114lb 8oz

This was a Bears match on Broomhill and Bridge pools at the venue and my first time on Bridge. I drew well drawing the same peg that won the match the previous week. I started with corn and pellet and then changed to maggots on the long pole, catching steady all match for the win with 114lb 8oz. This venue really fished really well considering it's only the first week in the New Year. Read my blog on this match HERE
