With over 30+ years of angling experience including 20+ years of competitve match fishing behind me I hold nothing back and tell it like it is!!!
In my blogs I try to give an insight into what is running though my mind during my matches and the decisions I make in them. These days we all generally fish the same methods and tactic's learnt from fishing magazines and watching youtube video's etc. But the same anglers always seem to do better than others and frame regularly. So it must be the their thinking and the decisions they make in matches that makes the difference and this it what I try to explain in my blogs. Plus if I believe some particular item of tackle that I've used made a difference I tell you here
This was a Brookfields AC match at Lower Broadheath fisheries aka as the Jam Factory spread over Sycamore and Willow pools.
This was a Brookfields AC match over Swan and Lowland pools at Lower Park Fishery, Redditch.
This was the 15th fishing of this special charity match, A match that I won back in 2010 and I was keen to get my name back on the Cup. But it was only to be section win this year
I returned to the Jubilee Fishery Saturday Open for a bit of practise for the Grant Davis Memorial match in a few weeks time.
I was keen to fish this match on the Ghost pool rather than the regular Sunday open because Ghost doesn't normally go in for the opens and I'd only ever fished it once before.
This pool contains and good head of large Carp. So the plan was to fish the pole short on heavy gear with large baits and to finish the match in the margins.
This match was probably the most enjoyable days fishing of the year so far.
This was my first outing this year with Brookfields AC at Lower Park Fishery nr Redditch on peg 57 Abbey pool.
This was a Nomad match on the match pool, Campbell at Viaduct fishery down in Somerset.
This week I travelled up to Tunnel Farm Barn for their Sunday open. With a good turnout of 36 anglers the match was spread over two pools, House and Canal
This week I returned to Hillview for their regular Saturday open held over Moorhen, Heron and one of the canals. I won the match with my first tonne+ catch of 2019
This match was all most a carbon copy of a match four weeks ago. I drew the same peg, Willow 22.
This Saturday I visited a blustery Hillview for their regular open
Rather than fishing a commercial open this weekend this was a small knock up match but still very enjoyable fishing with just a few fellow Jubilee Nomads, with a lot of banter going on!
Hillview normally fishes well in the winter and when other venues are struggling its the place to go for winter bites.
